JLPT N5 Grammar: これ/それ/あれ (kore/sore/are)

Meaning: これ/それ/あれ (Kore/ sore/ are) : This/that

Usage: Used to represent a noun (alternative pronoun) indicating people, things…

+ “これ”- This: Used to refer to things that are far from the listener but close to the speaker.

+ “それ”- That: Used to refer to things that are close to the listener but far away from the speaker.

+ “あれ”- The other: Used to refer to things that are far away from both the speaker and the listener.

For example:
これは本です
Kore wa hondesu
This is the book

それは椅子です
Sore wa isudesu
That’s the chair

あれは木です。
Are wa kidesu.
That’s the tree.
